I’m Velma Tim—a passionate follower of Jesus Christ, missionary, leader, and founder of the Acts 1:8 Movement. For over two decades, I’ve had the privilege of serving in various ministry roles—discipling youth, planting churches, pastoring, and equipping emerging leaders across Africa, including Cameroon, Liberia, Nigeria, and Kenya.
Long before I ever set foot in the United States, God was preparing me for something greater than I could imagine. Through years of ministry—often in challenging environments—I came to understand that true leadership is not about position, but about obedience, endurance, and a heart fully surrendered to God's mission.
In 2012, during my first visit to the U.S., I had a God-dream that marked me for life. I saw a harvest field, ripe and ready—but the harvester had gone on vacation. That dream awakened a deep burden in my heart. I knew the harvest couldn’t wait—and God was calling me to help bring laborers back into the field by supporting missionaries and equipping leaders to go further and deeper with the gospel.
It wasn’t time yet—but God was still preparing me. Through pastoral ministry and missions work, He was shaping the vision. Then, at the end of last year, I clearly heard Him say: Now is the time.
In joyful surrender, I launched the Acts 1:8 Movement—a ministry committed to empowering Spirit-filled believers to live on mission in every sphere of influence. Inspired by Jesus’ words in Acts 1:8, our mission is to raise bold witnesses—locally, regionally, and globally—while coming alongside those already in the field to lift their hands, like Aaron and Hur did for Moses, until the battle is won.
This movement is not just about going—it's about sending, supporting, and strengthening the laborers. Because when we stand together, the harvest will not be lost.
When I’m not teaching, traveling, or mentoring, I love to unwind by enjoying nature, exploring new places, diving into a good book or movie, or connecting with my family. I am an aunt to three neices and three nephews. These moments refresh my soul and remind me why this mission matters so deeply.
It’s an honor to be part of God’s unfolding story. And I invite you—whether you're called to go, to give, or to lift someone’s hands—to join me. Let’s advance the Kingdom, together.
